Hosting, domain and maintenance guides for running your website

Practical guides for owners running a live site: hosting, domains, business email, security, backups and what to do when the site goes down.

Keeping a website running

Launch day is the start of a website's working life, not the end of the project. After it goes live, someone has to renew the domain, keep the hosting paid and patched, make sure business email actually reaches inboxes, update WordPress and its plugins, keep backups that can be restored, and notice when something breaks. When nobody owns those jobs, small problems pile up quietly until the site stops loading on a Saturday night.

The guides in this section cover that infrastructure layer. They are written for hotel managers, clinic owners, shop owners and office managers in Bangkok who did not build the site themselves but now have to keep it healthy, or at least ask the right questions of whoever does.

What we do and do not offer here

To be clear from the start: we do not sell hosting or register domains as standalone products. The hosting guides are editorial, so they help you choose a provider and read its plan whoever you buy from. What we do offer is ongoing website maintenance after launch: updates, backups, fixes and small content changes on sites we look after. It is priced per site, and the maintenance pricing page explains how that quote is worked out.

If your problem is a slow site rather than a broken one, the fix usually sits in themes, images and scripts rather than the server alone. Our Core Web Vitals optimization work deals with that side.

Every guide in this section is listed below. They fall into four groups, so start with the one that matches the job in front of you. For page speed, Search Console and analytics, see the separate SEO, speed and analytics guides; this section stays with the infrastructure underneath.

Hosting and domains

Business email

Email on your own domain looks more professional than a free address, but it only works if messages land in the inbox. Read about setting up email on your domain, then the SPF, DKIM and DMARC records that stop your quotes and booking confirmations going to spam.

Security, backups and when the site is down

Outdated plugins and weak admin passwords are among the most common ways into a WordPress site. The WordPress security checklist covers logins, updates and user roles, and the plain guide to SSL and HTTPS explains the padlock visitors and browsers expect.

Backups are the safety net for everything else, and a backup you have never restored is only a hope. The backup and restore guide sets out what to save, where to keep copies and how often. If the worst has already happened, follow the step by step clean-up for a hacked site before you touch anything else.

Common questions

Do you sell hosting or domains?

No. We do not sell hosting or register domains as standalone products. We build websites and look after them afterwards through our maintenance service. During a build we help you choose a hosting provider and domain that suit the site, and we recommend opening the hosting and domain accounts in your business's name so you keep control of the renewals and the billing.

What should I check if my website is down?

Work from the outside in. First check whether the domain has expired, then whether the DNS still points to the right server, then whether the hosting account is active and paid. Only after that look at the site itself: a failed plugin update, a full disk or a hacked file. Checking in this order saves time, because an expired domain or an unpaid hosting bill takes minutes to rule out.

Do I need a .co.th domain?

Not necessarily. A .co.th tells Thai visitors you are a registered Thai company, which some businesses value, but it needs company documents to register. A .com is quicker to get and works well for hotels, exporters and firms with a foreign audience. Many businesses register both and point one at the other. Our domain guides compare the two and list the documents a .co.th requires.

Who should look after my site's updates?

Someone named, with a routine. WordPress core, the theme and plugins all need updating, ideally tested on a staging copy first, with a fresh backup before each change. A capable staff member can do this with a checklist. If nobody in-house has the time or confidence, a maintenance arrangement with a developer is the safer choice, and we offer that for sites we build or take over.
