Shopify plans in Thailand: what you pay each month and on each sale

A Thai Shopify store costs a monthly plan, gateway fees, paid apps and a one-time build. Here is how to budget each layer.

What does a Shopify store cost in Thailand?

A Shopify store in Thailand costs four things: a monthly plan fee paid to Shopify, fees on each sale charged by your payment gateway (and sometimes by Shopify too), paid apps and themes, and the one-time cost of having the store designed and built.

The plan fee is the number everyone quotes, but for a busy store the payment fees are often the larger line over a year.

There is one Thai detail that changes the maths. At the time of writing, Thailand is not on Shopify's list of countries where Shopify Payments is available, so Thai stores take payments through a third-party gateway. That brings an extra Shopify fee on those sales, on top of what the gateway charges. We explain both below, with links to each provider's own page so you can check today's figures.

If you are still deciding whether an online store is the right spend at all, our wider guide on how much a website costs in Thailand puts e-commerce next to simpler sites.

Shopify plans and what each adds

When we checked Shopify's pricing page in September 2026, the main plans were Basic, Grow and Advanced, with Shopify Plus above them for large merchants. The third-party payment fee listed then was 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced and 0.2% on Plus. Shopify changes plan names, prices and promotions from time to time, and it shows prices for your region, so always confirm on the official Shopify pricing page before you budget.

What changes as you move up

  • Basic: the entry plan for a new store. Enough for most small Thai shops starting with a modest catalogue.
  • Grow: more staff accounts and reporting, and a lower fee on sales taken through third-party gateways.
  • Advanced: more staff accounts, advanced reports and a lower third-party fee again.
  • Plus: an enterprise tier (we weigh it up in our guide to whether Shopify Plus is worth it) with a much higher starting price and its own contract terms. It comes up when a brand has high volume, several stores or wholesale needs; most Bangkok businesses will not need it at launch.

Billing currency and the baht

Check which currency your plan is billed in, both on the pricing page and in your store's billing settings. If it is not Thai baht, your real cost moves with the exchange rate, and your bank may add a foreign transaction fee to each monthly charge. If the pricing page offers yearly billing at a lower rate, compare it with monthly billing once you know the store will run for the full year.

The right plan is the cheapest one whose third-party fee, added to your gateway fee, still makes sense at your expected monthly sales. That calculation is next.

What fees does each sale carry?

Every sale on a Thai Shopify store can carry two separate fees, and it helps to keep them apart in your head.

1. The gateway's fee

Your payment gateway charges for processing each card payment, PromptPay QR transfer or other method. Thai merchants commonly look at local gateways such as Omise (for a time branded Opn Payments) or 2C2P, which support Thai methods customers expect. Rates differ by method, by volume and by your agreement, so ask the gateway for a written rate and check its published pricing rather than trusting a figure from a forum. Ask for the PromptPay and card rates separately, because the mix matters if most of your buyers pay by QR from a banking app.

2. Shopify's third-party fee

Because Shopify Payments is not offered in Thailand at the time of writing (our guide to Shopify payments in Thailand covers the alternatives), Shopify adds its own percentage fee on orders paid through an external gateway. The percentage depends on your plan and falls as you move up, which is the main financial reason a growing store changes plan.

Cash on delivery

COD is still popular with Thai shoppers, especially for first orders. It avoids card fees, but the courier's COD service has its own charge and you carry the risk of refused parcels. Treat it as a cost line, not a free option.

A simple rule: estimate a month's sales, split them by payment method, and apply both fees. That total, not the plan price, is what the platform really costs you.

Apps, themes and the domain

The plan gives you the platform. Most Thai stores then add a few paid pieces, and these monthly app subscriptions are where budgets quietly grow.

Apps Thai stores often need

  • Shipping and couriers: apps that connect orders to Thailand Post, KEX Express (formerly Kerry Express), Flash Express or J&T, print labels and push tracking numbers to customers.
  • Thai tax invoices: tools that issue full tax invoices or e-Tax invoices with a Thai tax ID and address format, which B2B buyers will ask for.
  • Payments: the connector for your chosen gateway, sometimes free, sometimes paid.
  • Reviews and translation: product reviews, and a Thai/English language setup if the built-in options are not enough.

Before installing, check each app's own pricing tab in the Shopify App Store. Many charge monthly, some charge per order, and several free tiers stop at a small order count.

Themes

Shopify offers free themes and paid ones sold as a one-time purchase from the Theme Store. A paid theme is not required; a well-configured free theme with good product photos often does the job. A custom design is a build cost, covered in the last section.

Domain and email

Budget for a domain each year, whether a .com or a .co.th, and for business email, which most stores set up with a separate email provider.

What does a Shopify store cost over a year?

Put the numbers into one worksheet before you commit. We suggest these rows, filled in with today's figures from each provider:

Cost lineHow it is chargedWhere to check
Shopify planMonthly or yearlyShopify pricing page, billing currency
Shopify third-party feePercentage of each online saleShopify pricing page, by plan
Gateway feesPer transaction, by methodYour gateway's written rate
AppsMonthly or per orderEach app's pricing tab
ThemeOne-time, if paidShopify Theme Store
Domain and emailYearlyYour registrar and email provider
BuildOne-timeYour designer's written quote

Run it at two sales levels: a quiet month and a peak month such as the run-up to Songkran or a 11.11 campaign. If the Grow plan's lower third-party fee saves more at your realistic volume than its higher plan price costs, move up; if not, stay on Basic.

The same exercise is worth doing for other routes. Our explainer on WordPress pricing shows how a WooCommerce store spreads costs differently, with hosting instead of a plan fee, and our comparison of builder costs vs an agency covers the all-in-one subscription platforms.

What does a Shopify store build cost?

Shopify's fees cover the platform, not the work of turning it into your store. Someone still has to set up the theme, write and load product pages, connect the gateway, configure shipping zones and courier rates, set up tax invoices, test checkout on phones and train your staff.

You can do that yourself, hire a freelancer or work with a Shopify agency in Bangkok such as ours. Our E-commerce package starts from THB 50,000, one-time, and covers Shopify or WooCommerce, PromptPay, cards, COD and Thai couriers, product import and e-Tax invoice setup, and staff training with a launch checklist. The full breakdown is on our e-commerce website prices page. The final price is set in a written quote; a typical project takes 15 days from the agreed brief to launch, and large catalogues can take longer.

Common questions

How much does Shopify cost per month in Thailand?

The monthly cost is your plan fee plus any paid apps. Plan prices are shown on Shopify's pricing page for your region and change from time to time, so check there on the day you budget. For a real monthly figure, add gateway fees and Shopify's third-party fee on your expected sales, because those usually grow faster than the plan fee.

Is Shopify Payments available in Thailand?

At the time of writing, Thailand is not on Shopify's list of supported countries for Shopify Payments. Thai stores therefore connect a third-party gateway for cards and PromptPay. Shopify keeps its supported countries list in its Help Center, so check it again before launch in case this changes.

Does Shopify charge a fee on every sale?

If you use a third-party payment gateway, which Thai stores currently must, Shopify charges a percentage fee on those sales, and the rate depends on your plan. Your gateway charges its own processing fee as well. Cash on delivery avoids gateway fees, though your courier charges for the COD service.

Can I pay for Shopify in Thai baht?

Check the currency shown on Shopify's pricing page and in your store's billing settings. If your plan is billed in a foreign currency, the baht cost will move with the exchange rate and your bank may add a foreign transaction fee. Keep a small buffer in your budget for that.

How much does it cost to have a Shopify store built?

It depends on your product count, languages and integrations. Our E-commerce package starts from THB 50,000, one-time, including PromptPay, cards, COD, Thai couriers, product import, e-Tax invoice setup and staff training. The final price is set in a written quote after we see your catalogue. A typical project takes 15 days; large catalogues take longer.
